Poem 23 In Solidarity: No. Because

By Amy Key

No. Because

– I want to lie down on the grass
– It’s too early to sleep
– I do not respect you
– The solstice is coming
– I am not tired
– You don’t control me
– I’ll wake up to the birds
– Look at my face
– I’ll stay up all night
– Repeat what I’m saying
– We have discussed this before
– I’ll stay here with my friends
– You’d think I’d be cold
– We gain strength through resistance
– What? I’m not listening
